What is the purpose of the role?
The role of the process technician is to perform a range of activities to ensure that all equipment associated with our waste water pumping station is running safely and efficiently and to assist the technicians with their technical duties. Responsibilities include cleaning mechanical equipment, maintenance and problem solving. You will be working in a fast paced environment with like-minded people looking to make a difference to our customers. You’ll aim to deliver a great customer service.

This is field based role covering the Thames Water area and is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in delivering excellent customer service whilst protecting the environment. You will utilise your skills to overcome the diverse challenges that this unique environment provides. No two days will be the same and the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment is key. You will be responsible for accurately reporting faults, highlighting and reporting hazards, near misses and incidents and achieving the highest equipment efficiencies though routine maintenance, breakdown repair and improvement works.
What will this role involve?
You will carry out planned and reactive, maintenance on a variety of waste residential pumping assets.
Communicating with the customer in a professional manner, maintaining contact with the throughout, and meeting customer expectations at all times.
You will carry out maintenance in line with the asset care plans.
You will have a good attention to detail and ensure all records and data capture is accurate.
You will ensure all job comments, site surveys, test certificates and records are maintained to a high standard and IT systems are corrected when found to be inaccurate.
What are we looking for?
Do you have similar experience working in an outside, manual role? We are looking for someone who wants to get stuck in and hands on. You will have good literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures. Computer data input /enquiry experience is desirable as is knowledge of waste water pumping and customer service. You must be very self-motivated and be able to work well alone and as a team. Due to the nature of the role you will require a clean driving licence and you will also be required to provide callout response in line with the business requirement. Essential Health and Safety requirements This role will require you to be physically fit and comfortable with working in water, working at heights and within the confined space of sewers and the like. As a part of the critical safety requirements you must be clean shaven at all times and due to the lifting equipment for man-riding weigh less than 110kgs at all times in this role. You will also need to participate in a pre-employment medical.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role can be based in locations across London or the Thames Valley (M4 Corridor). And will require travel across the region. We are offering a starting salary from £22,440, depending on skills, experience and agreed base location. Our excellent salary package includes an upskilling / developmental scheme, competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota may be required, for which you will receive an additional payment. You must also hold a full driving licence.
