What is the purpose of the role?

Delivering and embedding sustainable change is one of our key strategic priorities. At Thames Water, we are on an exciting journey to change the way we do change by delivering best practise project management. We are looking for talented people with a passion for change in this exciting time for our business to play a key role of our Business Change function and join our community. The Project Manager will take ownership of a small project or a work stream within a larger programme, from initiation through to completion of handover. You will form part of a team of professional change deliverers, supported by business leads and SMEs. You will be accountable for all aspects of delivery to agreed time, cost and quality outputs. You will engage across the business teams at the company, ensuring that stakeholders and impacted teams understand and fulfil their roles in the assurance of a great business outcome. You will work in a matrix model to ensure that the project is successful, with conflicts and competing demands managed accordingly. This includes assurance that the end user community are ready and accepting of the required changes.

What will this role involve?

This role involves project / Workstream Design & Governance work.

You will support development of the PID and business case, with clearly agreed programme outputs and outcomes.

You will work within agreed governance processes to ensure engagement and support to resolve issues and risks.

You will ensure change impacts are understood and managed, through the engagement of end users throughout the programme lifecycle.

You will drive best practice programme management techniques and have sponsor & Stakeholder Engagement.

You will establish strong relationships to ensure ongoing programme involvement.

You will ensure various roles and responsibilities are understood and active throughout programme lifecycle.

Work across enterprise portfolio change teams to assure the delivery of the business plan.

Team Leadership: You will support team in their delivery roles and participate in wider business leadership activities, in support of business development and develop your own skills to become a leader in your field.

Business Change Cultural Development: You will advocate of the Change Delivery Framework, demonstrating adherence and challenge to the new ways of working across the business and improving integrity of delivery processes. You will collaborate with colleagues, and provide advice and guidance on change delivery best practice – build reputation as an expert in field.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will be educated to degree level, BSc or equivalent. You will have experience as a Project Manager and experience in delivering change within a business. A passion for transformation and change, and the delivery of a first class customer experience. You will have experience of business improvement in a complex, matrix organisation. You will be a strong communicator and facilitator, able to influence stakeholders to obtain support and backing for significant change. You will have the ability to operate at a management level, possessing the personal credibility to influence and coach colleagues across the organisation. You will have the understanding, practice and qualification of recognised change techniques and methodologies eg, PRINCE2, MSP, Lean, Kaizen. Six Sigma (Black Belt) etc. You will have a clear and demonstrable experience in project management, throughout the programme lifecycle.

This role is based in Swindon and is offering a salary of up to 50,000.
