What is the purpose of the role?
As the Senior Network Operator, you will act as an extended part of the leadership team and provide solid technical knowledge. You will lead on the technical delivery and provide clear technical support to the business with a particular technical specialism, ensuring that the agreed compliance and service levels are achieved now and in the future. Proactive mentoring and development of new employees is key to this role and you will be responsible for providing feedback on progress to the Operational Customer Manager. You will plan and lead training and technical innovation within the Water Control Team, supporting and coaching the team to technical excellence. We are looking for someone to champion and expertly drive the continuous improvement agenda and undertake investigations of non-compliance. Continuous improvement is essential in underpinning our entire business and is part of our strategic transformational journey. You will liaise with both internal stakeholders in Water Production and Strategic Control and with our External Regulators.

What will this role involve?
This role will involve:
Adhere to the requirement of working a 12 hour rotating shift.

Contribute towards the discussions and workshops that will help shape the changes, attend briefs and gain the required sign-off for the new processes and procedures and to assist with the training and induction of new starters, including setting the correct culture.
Ensure all Health, Safety and Wellbeing procedures are followed.
Professional and accurate communications with our internal stakeholders.
Utilise banked shifts to shadow colleagues in operations to provide a better understanding of operational issues.
Accurately report on data.
Ensure quality detail and traceability of information, the timely issuing of daily reports and maintenance of circulation lists.
Ensure all issues are suitably escalated to the appropriate point and all points of escalation suitably logged and handed-over.
Support the OCM with technical experience in event situations, delegating tasks to team and proactively creating contingency plans mitigate risks.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a degree educated or equivalent, experienced technical specialist, ideally with a HNC in Engineering or science discipline, excellent in building and maintaining relationships that has relevant experience in quality regulations within a business. You will have the ability to build positive relationships quickly and proven stakeholder engagement. In order to be successful in this role, you must be resourceful, possess a ‘can ‘do’ and ‘hands on’ attitude, be able to operate at all levels and overall have exceptional people skills. With a previous background and successful track record/experience in engineering, you will be confident in influencing and coaching colleagues and engaging closely with other departments. To be successful in this role, you will have a high level of organisation skills with strong attention to detail. You will be fully competent at using MS office as well as open to learning new systems. Ideal applicants will have experience in operating SCADA, GIS & Company Office IT systems. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence is required.
Thames Water information and salary details
This 12 hour rotating shift role is based at our offices in Kemble Court, Reading, Berkshire and is offering a salary between £29,750.00 and £40,250.00 depending on the relevant skills and expertise. In addition a shift enhancement will be paid accordingly.
