What is the purpose of the role?

We are currently seeking a driven and robust Contracts Manager, within our Commercial Team, to manage a portfolio of high value, high profile framework agreements. You will be responsible for the in-life contract management, including supplier performance, contractual assurance and driving additional financial and non-financial benefits. You will be working across a suite of framework agreements that support the Group and Customer Experience business units. The key focus of this role will be on indirect contracts (e.g. Professional Services and Consultancy). You will also ensure that both the business and our suppliers have an effective relationship to enable the delivery of the desired outputs and to provide cost effective solutions, identifying and delivering continuous improvement & innovation.

You will be required to develop good relationships and to work closely with other teams, including, sourcing, legal, financial, regulatory, operational and market experts.

What will this role involve?

Overall responsibility for contract compliance ensuring that suppliers and the business operate within the agreed parameters and to the terms and conditions as defined within the agreement(s).

Develop (where appropriate), maintain and manage a robust governance framework which provides assurance to the business regarding commercial/contractual management of the Contracts whilst accommodating the flexibility required for an arrangement.

Monitor and report progress against targets.

Delivering commercial and contractual cost efficiency and value-for-money.

Develop strategies to deal with commercial issues and challenges in order to ensure that the Contract delivers.

Ensure commercial issues are actively and promptly resolved in line with interests.

Build and maintain effective and trusting relationships with partners to optimise delivery for the organisation.

Ensure open channels of communication and collaboration exist to support both issue resolution and identification of new opportunities.

Drive to maximise service contract performance using challenge and innovation, taking appropriate risks, rewarding performance where necessary, and forming effective and professional relationships internally and externally.

Contributing to supplier relationship management/service partner business plans and processes to forecast, track and report on performance.

Positively participating in the ongoing operation and governance of the commercial strategy. Drive continuous improvement in contract development through close engagement with internal and external customers.

Working with sourcing, legal, treasury and insurance on behalf of the business in relation to contracts; building appropriate relationships, influencing commercial policy and process where appropriate and maintaining good knowledge of best industry practice.

We are seeking a passionate & highly-experienced Contract Manager with a distinguished background in supplier performance delivery, in-life contractual negotiations and delivery of benefits. You will have great attention to detail, exceptional influencing skills and an ability to communicate and translate technical information to key stakeholders at all levels. A self-starter, you will be resilient and tenacious under pressure being an expert in negotiation with an ability to develop a negotiation strategy. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving performance improvement using customer insight, and market analysis and commercial acumen. CIPS membership would be beneficial.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based in Reading, with a salary of up to 52,500 depending on skills and experience.
