What is the purpose of the role?
The role of the System Engineer – Regional will consist of technical support for the Thames Water Regional ClearSCADA application, supporting systems to ensure 99.98% availability. You will be integrated within the Operational Technology - Operational Support (Water) team, with responsibility for the reliability and continuity of the Regional SCADA systems. You will implement improvements to the Regional ClearSCADA systems and undertake system health checks, maintenance and support activities. You will lead and coordinate the Operational Technology Change Management and Risk Assessment procedure to facilitate and minimise the impact of change on the operational Regional ClearSCADA systems. You will be contributing to the maintenance of the Water RTU estate software and configuration standards to support the operational business and provide technical support into the development and maintenance of the OT strategy, standards, process and procedures. You will participate in a rota providing 24/7 Out of Hours emergency support and fault rectification for the Organisational Management Control room. You will identify and escalate operational risk and deliver Regional ClearSCADA system updates and upgrades. You will develop and deliver solutions for new or modified customer requests. You will provide asset, alarm and event data reports.

What will this role involve?
You will maintain SCADA availability 99.98% and Identify issues & provide solutions to generate internal projects.
Respond to Regional SCADA related incidents both in and out of hours, through participation in a standby rota.
Root Cause Problem Analysis of Regional ClearSCADA related incidents by participation in event wash-ups.
Support Regional ClearSCADA related delivery projects. Instigate security improvements and ensure they are delivered.
You will identify and agree continuous improvement opportunities and participate within internal projects to deliver them.
What are we looking for?
Essentially, you will have a HNC or Degree in Electrical, Control etc level education with several years’ experience in a specialist area SCADA & ICA. You will have a working knowledge of IP communications and general understanding of WAN/LAN networking principles. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is keen to provide the best possible service to minimal cost. You will be a Telemetry subject matter expert. Desirable but not essential experience and skills include, ClearSCADA experience. You will be confident to be able to articulate and represent Operational Technology as a technical champion for the Regional systems. You will have very good technical knowledge of SCADA, ICA, keeping up with current best industry practice. You will have excellent IT skills MS office and email, knowledge extended programming within SCADA and MS applications/Extensive knowledge of W/LANs IP Comms.
