What is the purpose of the role?
We are looking for someone with an engineering or other relevant degree and chartered status, ideally with a post-graduate business or project management qualification. With a track record of managing successful major capital projects, you will be confident in demonstrating your capability with risk-based and analytical decision making. Using your excellent verbal and written communication skills and having led large projects you be able to display key leadership principles. You will have broad knowledge and experience in making complex investment decisions.

With the help of the team who work alongside you, this role will enable you to make an impact on our long-term ambitions; through the delivery of one or more of our major projects at Beckton Sewage Treatment Works, the largest in Europe and Mogden Sewage Treatment Works, one of the largest such plants in South East England.

What are we looking for?
The expectation is that the project manager can demonstrate the capabilities below:
With an extensive track record, you will be accountable for the project delivery including leading, owning and being responsible for governance, compliance and internal/external stakeholder engagement.
You will demonstrate the ability to build a team that will own the project. You will have experience working closely and collaboratively with commercial teams.
You will have excellent leadership across multi-disciplined teams and excellent communication and leadership skills.
You will have a track record in continuous improvement and an ability to deliver against stretching targets.
You will have extensive and detailed knowledge of delivering major complex projects within a regulated infrastructure environment.
A self-starter, resilient and tenacious under pressure, you will be seen to take the lead and take full project accountability .
You will handle management of risk issues and change in a fully transparent manner through effective reporting and escalation.
Thames Water information and salary details
The role has a base location at our Head Office in Reading but you will be expected to travel to other Thames Water sites at Beckton, East London and Mogden, West London. We are offering a salary of between £55,000 and £75,000 dependant on experience. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year.
