What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role is to carry out field investigations into complex operational problems with the sewerage network, identifying solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. This is within a defined geographical area of North Thames covering primarily Oxfordshire, Aylesbury, parts of the Chilterns Ridge and the Cotswolds.

What will this role involve?
The Specialist will:
Coordinate complex planned and reactive technical activities to ensure maximum effectiveness and minimal customer impact.
Provide technical support to determine solutions to problems and ensure a robust, stable and efficient network.
Provide information on required maintenance and improvement to the Network Strategy function, and assist with contingency planning.
Support planned investigations to assist "owner" in risk assessment process. You will also be required to work on the out of hours co-ordinator duty which is currently 1 week in 6 on a rota basis.
Work closely with the Field Planning Specialist to ensure all flooding and pollution jobs are completed with the appropriate follow-on work raised. And also with the Network Engineers to resolve technical issues.
Work together with the Repair & Maintenance Supervisor to ensure all customer-related repair work is completed on time and to high standards. As well as the Capital Delivery Manager to gain funding for specific complex jobs Visit sites and customers in times of escalation or high level complaint to deal with the situation
What are we looking for?
Do you have a technical aptitude with good interpersonal skills? Are you seeking a job where you can take responsibility of a designated area to optimise efficiency? Great communication skills are needed to maintain and improve our high quality of customer experience as well as being advanced in IT / in-house systems such a Vistec. Knowledge of waste network systems is desirable together with a sound working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act. You will also demonstrate a good business/ stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving and strong team working and influencing skills.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at our Kidlington Depot We are offering a salary up to £39,000, depending on experience. Our excellent salary package includes a car or car allowance, competitive contributory pension and a wider benefits scheme which includes an annual pay review, child care vouchers, season ticket loans and loyalty awards for continuous service plus many more. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota will be required for which you will receive an additional payment.
