What is the purpose of the role?

The role reports into one of two Thames Water Programme Managers, who are responsible for ensuring that Thames Water delivers its performance needs at the correct value and risk; whilst ensuring we deliver the right output for our customers for our Wholesale Wastewater business. The Investment Analyst role is pivotal in delivering reporting and reviews of information regarding the investment programme.

This role will work closely with other members of the Investment, Programme & Assurance team in delivering monthly, quarterly, and ado reports and presentations on all aspects of the AMP6 investment programme. You will carry out the monthly reviews of the investment papers to ensure that data entering the corporate SAP system is correct and accurate. You will also support the process of programme change, working closely with the delivery partners to ensure transfers within and between deliverers is up to date and accurate.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an empowered team controlling an AMP6 investment programme of over 2bn, and be actively involved in the development of the AMP7 programme. Thames Waters delivery approach in AMP6 is to share risk and rewards under an alliance approach, set against a revised regulatory framework. This role is unique in being at the heart of producing information which seeks to monitor and understand the success of this change. We are therefore seeking individual and team behaviours that nurture this change whilst retaining the authority and integrity of the central programme team.

What will this role involve?

Key tasks and activities will include:

Produce the monthly Strategy, Planning, & Assurance performance summary, which are used to review financial, risk and KPI performance across the Wholesale Wastewater programme and individual deliverers. This will involve running reports from SAP BI, Access databases, and Excel spreadsheets, as well as sourcing Management Information from other areas of the business.

In conjunction with the delivery partners, maintain and update the log of contractual and scope changes across the Wholesale Wastewater Investment programme, and attend review meetings to confirm transfers.

Review incoming, and resubmitted, investment papers, ensuring that authors have prepared both the documentation and the corporate SAP system to the expected quality and accuracy.

Review, confirm and report on, various attributes of investment papers to ensure that year end regulatory reporting and external audits run smoothly.

In conjunction with the delivery partners, maintain and update a log of emergency funding, and monitor progress to the point where formal governance is completed. S

upport the wider Investment, Programme & Assurance team in the preparation of quarterly and annual reforecast datasets and presentations.

Support the wider Investment, Programme & Assurance team in the collation, updating and reporting of corporate risks.

Prepare monthly and annual reports as required, including; financial run rates, timing of investment, regulatory KPI performance, among others.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an individual with strong analytical and presentational skills, numerate, and adept at handling large volumes of data efficiently. Able to understand operational and system processes in order to produce meaningful and appropriate reports. The ability to form strong relationships and work effectively across different business areas is required. The ability to interact and share ideas in a small team, whilst sharing opportunities to improve business as usual deliverables across the wider team. Graduate or equivalent, relevant technical degree and/or membership of a professional body an advantage but not necessary. Proficient MS Office skills including advanced Excel are key. Working knowledge of SAP and SAP BI preferable.
