What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role is to inspect and maintain electrical equipment within our water treatment works. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults; installing, modifying and repairing equipment including pumps, motors and panels in a safe and efficient manner. This role plays a fundamental part in the introduction and installation of brand new, top of the range equipment in addition to carrying out routine maintenance of pre-existing equipment.

Our technicians and engineers are a vital component in what we do at Thames Water. They are key figures on any site and help with the day to day operating of our water treatment plants / pumping stations. Your daily tasks will be essential for ensuring that our water treatment plants operating as desired and information is being accurately reported to the internal system in order for our sites to be monitored accordingly. You will be stepping into a rewarding role with great responsibilities, which you will be expected to embrace. Your working environment will be fast-paced and varied, offering a variety of opportunities to train and develop within areas which you find to be of interest.
What will this role involve?
This role will involve, but not be limited to:
Carrying out installation works on a variety of Thames Water equipment.
Inspecting and carrying out maintenance work on equipment as required within manufactures guidelines.
Carrying out routine machinery checks in addition to un-scheduled emergency maintenance work.
Delivering up-to-date technical advice and provide training and support for technical trainees.
Complying with both the Health and Safety at Work regulations alongside Thames Water health and safety guidelines.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will be a qualified electrician having completed an Indentured Apprenticeship or BTEC HNC in an electrical subject, or equivalent. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of health and safety issues relevant to the industry. Due to the nature of this role, you must hold a full, UK driving licence.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at our Merton Well site, near Wimbledon, London, but will cover the South East London area. We are offering a salary of up to £34,155, depending on skills and experience. Participation in a 24/7 out of hours standby rota (typically 1 week in 6) will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payments and overtime if required.
