What is the purpose of the role?

This role is to support the specialist process controller in ensuring the overall operation of the incineration plant. Working as part of a team to perform a range of assigned activities including operation, testing, routine checks, first line maintenance and problem solving to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards.This may involve using specialist process knowledge.

What will this role involve?

This role will involve, but is not limited to:

Assisting the specialist process controller to ensure the continuous operation of the plant and equipment (incineration or desalination)

First line maintenance and process fault-finding Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met and the works meet regulatory quality standards and customer demand Undertake safety and security checks

Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of colleagues through reporting and resolving of site health and safety issues

Process monitoring by visual inspection, sample gathering and on-line monitor checking

Monitoring and inspecting equipment e.g. lifting and unblocking pumps, following a checklist to carry out planned preventative maintenance, ensuring equipment / generators / telemetry are working by doing a test run Additional workload will include involvement in planned outages

What are we looking for?

Do you have experience in a relevant industry with industrial experience in helping to manage or control the appropriate processes? The ideal candidate would have good practical experience of the specialist process gained in a related role. Previous experience of SCADA systems would be an advantage and technical expertise and responsibility may require additional qualifications. Completion of NVQ level 2 units or equivalent experience in addition to appointed persons for HV (electrical work) and technical C&G or HNC is desirable. You will need to have basic literacy, numeracy and computer skills in order to undertake data input, enquiry and analysis and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including confined space entry.

This role is based at Beckton sewage treatment works in Barking, East London. We are offering a salary of between 27k - 35k plus an additional shift allowance of 25%, depending on skills and experience. Due to the nature of the role you will require a clean driving licence and flexible working and an ability to cover absence of any kind is essential.
