What is the purpose of the role?

The IT business manager oversees IT-wide management information and reporting, and IT procurement and commercial activities within Thames Water. The role requires a close working relationship with the rest of the IT leadership team and the head of IT finance to manage the financial health of the IT organisation, drive insights for the chief digital officer, and provide a robust and commercially savvy IT procurement capability.

We work closely with partners who bring their own skills, knowledge, capabilities, insight and innovative thinking to the alliance, which combined with the Thames team's experience and knowledge of our business, create an innovative way of working and delivering technology services and projects.

What will this role involve?

You will be commercial business partnering, managing insights and risk driving IT performance insights, planning, and budgeting in liaison with the Financial Controller team; providing oversight of IT risks and leads related governance.

You will be reporting on performance collating and reporting on timely IT management information to drive a culture of high performance and evidenced based decision making.

You will define and oversee technology procurement including the IT sourcing strategy and procurement process, working closely with the Group Commercial team

You will be manage the technology vendor contract management including the management of the contract lifecycle, ensuring failures are properly addressed and compensated, and leads the renewal process; you will be working closely with IT Operations on vendor management activities.

What are we looking for?

You will be known to have a strong understanding of management accounting principles including budgeting and forecasting

From your previous roles you will be commercially savvy with excellent negotiation and influencing skills

You will have IT procurement expert knowledge in IT market trends and solutions and are comfortable working in a complex multi-supplier environment

You will be able to demonstrate your experience in drawing action based insights from technical management information and have substantial experience in managing risks and driving performance

You will have experience in ensuring high performance through the adherence to quality standards and processes
