What is the purpose of the role?

The client is seeking a senior PMO Manager who will work in conjunction with the Head of Programme Delivery to build and develop a PMO team. They will safeguard the success of the Group IT programme delivery portfolio (c60m) to assure it is delivered according to quality / time / budget.

What will this role involve?

As the PMO Manager for group IT programme delivery function you will have direct responsibility/line management for a team of centralised and embedded PMO Analysts.

In addition, you will build rapport and working relationships with varying people throughout the business including Heads of, programme and project managers and senior directors.

You will also be tasked with defining best practices for programme delivery and maintaining a single portfolio view of in-flight and pipeline (Demand) initiatives whilst ensuring adherence to governance.

Building, developing and leading a high performing PMO team, Control of programme delivery pool resources to drive efficient utilisation, (Resource management).

Ownership the PMO Framework methodology and improvements as required to support latest best practice.

Provide advice / mentorship of the development/maintenance of project plans, RAID logs, creation of cost models by the programme delivery community.

Accountable for assurance activities within programme delivery (health checks, stage gate reviews)ensuring plans are created, up to date, include all governance check points, cost models, milestones and resource requirements.

Run portfolio assurance and governance meetings, (PRB / PPB).

Establish portfolio dependency tracking between group wide and portfolio initiatives.

Accountable for the portfolio level status reporting at ELT,SLT levels.

Ownership of the portfolio roadmap - including pipeline and in flight projects, (Demand management).

Management of portfolio wide risks and issues.

Drive standards and best practice throughout programme delivery and the portfolio office.

Build and management of programme delivery change control processes.

Develop strong working relationships with the business stakeholders.

Facilitate the mobilisation and orientation of the project and programme teams for new projects.

Responsible for programme delivery budgeting, (2m).

What are we looking for?

Proven leadership in building and leading PMO teams Over 5 years' experience of managing a PMO Solid PMO and project management experience Strong understanding of the project lifecycle Detailed knowledge of project, programme and portfolio management activity Proficient in the use of standard project planning and measurement tools A strong influencer (gravitas) with exceptional people skills and the ability to challenge and inspire others Ability to deal with all levels of the organisation from administrators, team leaders, Programme managers through to senior sponsors Strong numeracy skills, able to analyse, track and report complex budget information in a clear and consistent manner Innovative, dynamic, motivated and can work independently Ability to deal with teams in multiple locations Supportive and coaching mind-set Able to work to tight deadlines Outsourced supplier management experience Qualifications required include all or a combination of MSP, Prince2, P3O, PPSO, ITIL practitioner, Agile / Scrum with advanced MS office skills.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based at Clearwater Court, Reading. We are offering a salary of 60,000.00, dependant upon skills and experience, as well as a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme.
