What is the purpose of the role?

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our wholesale market services department which facilitates the delivery of our business's new market obligations. We enable the sale of services to all companies licensed to operate in the water markets, this equates to over 400m of revenue that is managed within the team. As well as managing approximately 40m of risk associated with market compliance. You will form part of the market operations team who process service requests from retailers, ensuring the market data is up to date. Currently, the information we acquire to keep the market data accurate comes from varied sources, all of which have their own accountable person and follow different processes. This role is to take ownership of the current approach and create an effective new way of working. As a wholesale market data analyst, you will work alongside our internal business users in updating, monitoring, and auditing the data in internal systems as well as in the central market operating system. Along with identifying issues with certain data items and transactions, you will lead on resolving underlying issues in processes and systems. You will also work with other business areas to ensure that operational processes are completed and transaction errors are managed in a timely manner.

What will this role involve?

To be able to understand market related data items and transactions and the impact of these within the market, across the different business units as well as in the internal systems.

You will manage the processing of market transactions in line with wholesale market services policies and procedures to statutory service levels.

Analyse and manage the operation of routine service requests and processes, ensuring the quality of wholesale's market data is maintained by using company-specific systems to ensure internal and external records are accurate and up to date.

Design and deliver elements of technical processes by understanding and analysing complex system data and provide advice and recommendations, as appropriate.

Carry out in-depth desk investigations of all market operations specific service requests, by using internal source systems and public domain databases.

Use past experience to help improve our processes and increase efficiency by reducing lead times and/or improving accuracy.

Support the department by liaising or attending meetings with key internal and external stakeholders, as required.

Maintain, update and streamline market operations training guides when required.

Support and coach less experienced colleagues to contribute to the development of the team.

What are we looking for?

Do you have experience taking ownership of and improving processes? Are you commercially aware with a wider understanding of business impact? If the answer is yes, apply now! You will come from a business analyst (or equivalent) background and be comfortable with using complex systems and Excel. You will have great communication skills to be able to interpret and translate technical information effectively to the appropriate stakeholders.

This role is based in Reading, with a salary of up to 28k depending on skills and experience.
