What is the purpose of the role?
To provide a companywide focus for the issue of legal documentation to trade and industry under the provisions of the Water Industry Act 1991. The role will review all new trade effluent applications within the specified legal timescale, complete customer site visits for the assessment of process, volumetric, pollution prevention, health and safety and risk reduction purposes. The role will also complete existing trade effluent case reassessments as defined by the urban waste water directive to ensure accurate and fair charging of our customers and lower level trade effluent billing enquiries and customer contacts. This role will also attend incidents and take any follow up action such as formal sampling as evidence for prosecutions.
What makes this role unique?
This role will see you responsible for the issuing of legal documentation which will allow our business customers to discharge trade effluent into our foul sewerage systems. Carrying out risk and pollution assessments this is an excellent opportunity, providing you with lots of interaction with various internal stakeholders and external customers. Within a helpful and flexible natured team of five, you will get to see a variety of things you wouldn't normally expect to see in a role like this. The role requires the right candidate to work both in the office and out in the field.
What will this role involve?
Issue of trade effluent (TE) documentation
Completion of environment agency referrals under environmental protection (EP) legislation
Maximising income and cost recovery
Completion of case assessments (new and reassessments) and the preparation of prosecution documentation
Formal tripartite sampling
Customer and account queries
Trade effluent sampling
What are we looking for?
To be considered for this role you will ideally have a minimum of a higher national certificate in a scientific discipline or will be working towards or achieved relevant professional qualification. We are looking for an individual with relevant work experience and a good knowledge of wastewater processes and industrial processes. You will be an analytical and self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer focus. Water industry act awareness would be an advantage. You will have the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. A clean current driving licence is essential.

This role is based at Beckton sewage treatment works, Essex. We are offering a salary of up to £30,000 depending upon your skills and experience.
