What is the purpose of the role?

You will be responsible for carrying out a total care service to customers of small pumping stations, optimising the performance of pumping stations ensuring minimal impact to the customer and the environment. You will resolve customer pumping issues with a first time fix, and with the least disruption to customers.

What will this role involve?

You will work on LV and associated instrumentation, control and automation equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner.

You will carry out planned and reactive, electrical and mechanical maintenance on a variety of waste residential pumping assets.

Communicating with the customer in a professional manner, maintaining contact with the throughout, and meeting customer expectations at all times.

You will carry out maintenance in line with the asset care plans.

This will include, but is not limited to: mechanical: refurbishing pumps, changing seals, gearboxes, electrical fault finding, testing, replacing cabling, contactors, isolators, carry out electrical isolations LV (low voltage).

ICA: fault finding, alarm testing, telemetry outstation replacement and commissioning.

You will carry out maintenance, fault finding & minor installations complying with current standards and regulations (e.g. compliance with 17th edition wiring regulations, ATEX gas safe regulations, and other associated regulations).

You will provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up to date technical knowledge, and provide training support for technical trainees.

You will be able to carry out a full condition based survey of a site including providing Technical advice for a 'fit for purpose' investment business case to ensure that the business is compliant to all relevant regulations and our internal framework document.

You will have a good attention to detail and ensure all records and data capture is accurate.

You will ensure all job comments, site surveys, test certificates and records are maintained to a high standard and IT systems are corrected when found to be inaccurate.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate would be qualified in C&G Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Part 2 following an Indentured Apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, NVQ level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a BTEC ONC or HNC in a combined Mechanical and Electrical subject. It would be advantageous but not essential for the candidate to be qualified to City & Guilds 2395-01 with a level 3 award in the periodic inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations, or NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering and bs7671:2008 17th edition wiring regulations qualification. Ideally you should also have at least two years industrial experience including working, testing and producing certification on three phase and single phase distribution boards, motor control centres and local control panels including package plant control panels. Having an appreciation of the requirements to manage the waste pumping station during the testing process would be advantageous. You will need to have the ability to work with minimum supervision, under your own initiative to design and standards and a good knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.

Thames Water information and salary details

Roles are based across Beckton, Barking, Rainham, Upminster and Romford. We are offering a salary of between 32k -44k. Due to the nature of the role you will require a clean driving licence and you will also be required to provide callout response in line with the business requirement.
