What is the purpose of the role?

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fleet Operations and Compliance Advisor to work with one of the largest Utility companies in the UK. The successful candidate will support the Fleet Operations and Compliance Manager in the delivery of a legally compliant and cost effective vehicle and plant fleet operation, through effective maintenance cost management and analysis, monitoring and managing of statutory, manufacturer and company specific vehicle and plant maintenance and testing requirements to ensure no risk to compliance, along with the supporting of compliance to our Operator Licence obligations.

What will this role involve?

The role of Fleet Operations & Compliance Advisor will require you to:

Maintain compliance of our mixed fleet of circa 2,500 assets, including cars, LCVs, HGVs and plant, in line with both statutory and company specific standards.

Protect the company's Operators Licence, through timely and effective management and administration, including tachograph analysis, vehicle maintenance and inspections, notifications to the Traffic Commissioner.

Ensure optimum vehicle availability through the effective management of vehicle downtime associated with both maintenance and crash repair.

Identify further opportunities to reduce downtime through monitoring trends and making recommendations for updates to maintenance schedules supported by costs/benefit analysis.

Manage costs associated with vehicle repair and maintenance, challenging and seeking solutions with consideration to operational and financial impacts.

Manage the end to end solution of checking and maintaining vehicles ready for reallocation back out to the business.

Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records on fleet database to enable accurate financial forecasting and trend analysis.

Maintain optimum pool vehicle fleet in line with business and operational requirements.

Adopt a continuous improvement approach to processes and procedures falling within your remit, providing support to other team members within your area of expertise.

Manage small projects and develop business cases to support change and innovation.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role. Be qualified in motor vehicle engineering/technician. And will have knowledge of transport law, road traffic law and enforcement, along with other relevant legislation. Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and a Transport Manager CPC is desirable.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based at our offices in central Reading, Berkshire. We are offering a salary of up to 33,000 per annum depending on your level of experience.
