What is the purpose of the role?
To provide professional Safety, Health & Wellbeing advice to management and employees, to deliver the company Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy, and ensure compliance with Thames Water's Safety Health & Wellbeing management system, standards, processes and procedures.

The last few years have seen significant improvements in the health and safety performance of Wastewater operations. This is an opportunity to be part of a small team helping to make further improvements in performance.
What will this role involve?
Delivering and monitoring performance against the Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes and procedures.
You will advise stakeholders which will include wholesale and support service staff and contractors on of Safety, Health and Wellbeing matters including compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practice by liaising with enforcing authorities and professional groups.
Raise awareness in the business and delivery of training in line with the annual training plan outside of core H&S team training.
You will lead and undertaking audits/inspections and incident investigations, identify non-compliance, root cause analysis, risks and agree action list/ plan with the site management and report statistical information as required, as well as assisting in the review and agreement process of safe systems of work and risk assessments where there is a significant risk to safety and environmental.
The role will involve travel to various sites across the whole region.
What are we looking for?
Are you a safety professional? Do you have experience of successfully delivering Safety, Health & Wellbeing programmes? Are you looking for a role where you can make a significant difference? If so, this may be the role for you The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering local Safety, Health and Wellbeing programmes with a customer focus. Ideally you will have a NEBOSH Diploma and Chartered membership of IOSH or working towards this. Relevant work experience in technical discipline and excellent communications skills both written and verbal are required for this key role. You will possess strong IT knowledge and be competent in Microsoft Office. Due to the nature of the role, a Full UK Driving licence is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This 12 month fixed term contract is based at Oxford Sewage Treatment Works. We are offering a salary of up to £47,000 depending on skills and experience.
