What is the purpose of the role?

The role of the project engineer is to manage the end to end delivery cycle of multiple small to medium value engineering projects. All projects will be on sewage treatment plants or waste pumping stations. The project engineer is responsible for the technical aspect of every stage of project delivery from the initial scoping of the need, through to commission/setting to work and handing back the completed project to the client.

What makes this role unique?

This interesting role carries the responsibility of delivering every stage of the project, from conception through to installation, commissioning and hand over, dealing with the full range of above ground ME&I assets found on waste-water treatment process plants and network pumping stations.

What will this role involve?

Individually owning and delivering a portfolio of ME&I projects with a value of up to 5m per annum.

Working with the operational client to scope, define and cost a solution that is both value for money and fit for purpose.

Supporting and engaging in design reviews and HAZOP studies.

Drafting, vetting and approving RAMS, pre-construction information, project plans/programmes, construction phase H&S plans (CPP), H&S files, commissioning plans etc.

Setting contractors to work and managing the site based construction activity, typically for above ground ME&I installations/refurbishment works for a wide variety of process assets.

Arranging for site access, permits and isolations.

Carrying out site based inductions, safety audits, tool box talks and safety briefings.

Monitoring and reporting against the project programme.

Overseeing the commissioning and hand over of the project to the operational client.

Ensuring appropriate training has been completed and that completion documents are available and handed over, test certificates, as constructed drawings, O&Ms etc.

Closing out any snagging and monitoring asset performance post completion.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking someone with previous experience in a relevant industrial / construction engineering environment. You will have good inter-personal skills, be an effective communicator, numerate, literate, with an ability and willingness to develop a personal skill base. You will have a minimum of a BTEC/HND in mechanical or electrical engineering. As well as this you will have the ability to work with minimum supervision, under your own initiative to deliver specified outputs. An understanding or experience working with microsoft project would be an advantage.

Thames Water information and salary details

This is a mobile role with a flexible base location of either Mogden sewage treatment works in Middlesex or Long Reach sewage treatment works in Dartford and will cover multiple locations. We are offering a salary of up to 50,600 depending on skills and experience.
