Forming part of the contract management team within our commercial division, we are currently seeking a driven individual to lead and develop the contract management of approx. 100 agreements for our group & retail business units; with a value in excess of 250m. Leading a small team of Contract Managers, you will identify and develop robust commercial and contract management strategies, drive value and innovation and ensure improved performance from the team and suppliers. This challenging role will give you the autonomy to proactively seek better opportunities to share best practice within the wider business to enhance the customer experience, and drive better value for money whilst identifying and mitigating risks. You will ensure contract compliance and work collaboratively with teams to achieve the safe and cost effective delivery of the services across the company.

This exciting role contributes to supplier relationship management / service partner business plans and processes to forecast, track and report on supplier performance.

What will this role involve?

To help to maximise contract performance using challenge and innovation, taking appropriate risks, rewarding performance where necessary, and forming effective and professional relationships with supplier representatives and the business.

To monitor commercial deliverables of contracts, identify and act upon opportunities.

You will drive the outcomes the business need and work closely on relationships between both parties.

To work with sourcing, legal, treasury and health and safety on behalf of contract management in relation to all contracts; building appropriate relationships, influencing procurement policy and strategy where appropriate.

To support the management of contractual financial arrangements and the financial performance of partners, highlighting any areas of risk or opportunity, along with strategic plans to develop suppliers.

Regular review of financial actuals to budget forecast with finance, reporting and acting upon performance KPIs and communication of risk / opportunity to senior managers.

You will be responsible for ensuring the contracts continue to meet the business needs, deliver savings, drive innovation and undertake re-negotiations/variations/dispute resolution where appropriate.

We are seeking an engaging & motivating people manager with strong experience of improving and driving innovation within their accountability of managing contracts. You should also have a good understanding of contract law and a proven history of dealing with difficult negotiations. You will be resilient and experienced at dealing with conflicting priorities & difficult situations; and have good working knowledge of OJEU regulations. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for building our brand and reputation for the commercial division, and for Thames Water as a customer. Relationship management as well as senior stakeholder management is vital to be successful in this role. Being be a qualified member of CIPS would be advantageous. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required

This role is based in our Reading head office, with a salary of up to 70k depending on skills and experience.
