What is the purpose of the role?
This role will require the successful candidate to perform assigned front line activities, including the operation of a specialist mobile and fixed process plant and problem solving to ensure that Water Production services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. The role of operating fixed and mobile plant enables our Slow Sand Filters to be maintained to the highest quality standards, ensuring London receives fresh, wholesome water.
What makes this role unique?
Slow sand filters can produce very high quality water free from pathogens, taste and odour without the need for chemical aids. Our slow sand filters at Hampton are critical to us as a business. They enable us to supply over a third of London's drinking water. This frontline role maintaining these filters enables us to keep up with the demand and ensures London is always fully supplied with water. Specifics of the role include: The majority of the work is outdoors in all weather conditions. Driving plant and machines to relocation media around site Building working relationships Team working Health and Safety Customer focus The workload is variable and the candidate need to be flexible is essential.
What will this role involve?
Driving and operation of mobile plant for slow sand filter activities, following company procedures to ensure water quality is maintained and kept to programme.
This includes the driving of dumper trucks, sand skimmers, loading shovels and 360 excavators.
Plant to be driven safely with good hygiene standards maintained (person & plant)
Following health and safety procedures to ensure own and others safety.
Operation of sand washing plants, shingle separation plant and Sand/GAC separation
Plant Carrying out routine checks and tasks as delegated by the team manager.
Noting and reporting problems and participating in carrying out improvements to the process.
What are we looking for?
Full driving licence.
Experience of operating mobile plant would be advantageous.
Ability to understand and follow operating procedures. Physically fit.
