What is the purpose of the role?
You will be reporting directly into the production manager. You will lead, support and develop a team of 15 process and maintenance technicians to safely and efficiently operate the Lea Valley abstraction reservoirs.
What makes this role unique?
This opportunity will give you the chance to manage raw water reservoirs and raw water pumping stations which play a major part in the Lea Valley abstraction operating strategy. An element of the role will be interacting with many key internal and external stakeholders. In addition, you will manage the operational activities on the newly opened Walthamstow Wetlands site, the largest urban natural reserve in Europe.
What will this role involve?
Your main responsibilities as the Lea Valley abstraction performance manager will be to control and audit the site activities, ensuring the safety of your team, contractors and other third parties through the consistent application of company health & safety policy.
You will need to be time efficient, a great people manager and show the ability to work under pressure/time constraints whilst displaying an organised approach.
You must be able to effectively delegate and prioritise tasks to your team, and show both a proactive and reactive style of management.
You will be responsible for the development of your team members, and must ensure that they are consistently performing against both internal and external targets.
You will be expected to prepare reports and presentations for line managers and key stakeholders as required, so a keen eye for detail and a good level of confidence is a must to be a successful candidate in this role.
What are we looking for?
The ability to lead and develop people within a team. Previous team manager experience would be beneficial. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. Previous industry experience would be beneficial. Direct customer service experience desirable Water knowledge would be advantageous. Confident in presenting to and liaising with senior managers/key stakeholders.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at Coppermills water treatment works, but will require travel between sites. We are offering a salary of up to £34,000 depending on experience.
