What is the purpose of the role?

You will be part of a small team which creates, manages, and maintains the standards to which our waste water assets are designed, operated and maintained. You will take accountability for ensuring that asset standards are up to date and reviewed where required. In doing so you will ensure our standards are reviewed and challenged by business experts and that all key stakeholders are engaged in the creation and briefing of these standards to the wider business. You will provide advice on matters concerning all elements of Thames Waters asset standards, including managing the waiver processes and influencing others (such as our design partners and operational teams) to shape their approach to asset design and operation.

What will this role involve?

Working with colleagues and a range of subject matter experts to ensure that the asset standards meet the needs of the business, and that requests for waivers from standards are given proper consideration.

Providing advice on asset standards Using information from the external environment to influence design and operational best practice, as well as interpreting legislative and/or regulatory requirements where appropriate.

Examining relevant reports, research outputs and correspondence to determine whether standards and associated procedures require updating; carrying out analysis and leading review sessions as necessary; and then updating and briefing our standards as required

Engaging a large technical audience in order to formulate the response to the internal or external challenges for our asset standards.

Ensuring that there is a clear process for tracking the compliance, briefing and success of our standards in our build, operate and optimise processes; monitoring and reporting as required

Assessing the impact of changes to design and operational standards on capital and operating costs and providing input to the strategic business planning process.

Managing consultants and technical authors to deliver best value through an agreed programme of work.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual who can work well as part of our team as well as engaging with people from all across the business. To do this we expect the you to have the below skills. Required Skills: A good knowledge of either wastewater treatment processes or wastewater networks. Ability to understand technical documents and waivers. A full driving licence Desirable Skills: Previous on-site operational / technical / professional experience in the wastewater industry. Excellent analytical & influencing skills. A team worker with good communication skills and the ability to communicate with persons of all levels within the business. Ability to manage working relationships with persons from various departments. Passion for improvement, the ability to challenge working processes and the ability to influence change. Experience in the business planning process. A good understanding of budgets / costs and the impacts a decision will have within the business. Degree in a relevant discipline or other appropriate technical qualification, such as membership of relevant institute or professional body. Knowledge of ISO 5500 and quality management systems is an advantage.

Thames Water information and salary details

The role will involve travel to a number of sites. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence is required This is permanent role will require travel to sites in Thames Valley; base location is to be determined. We are offering a salary of up to 45,000.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
