What is the purpose of the role?

The access manager will be an experienced IT service management professional with overall responsibility managing the access management process to ensure granting authorised users the right to use a service is efficient and effective whilst preventing access to non-authorised users. The access manager will be responsible for process, procedures and guidelines as well as ensuring that Access Management is the execution of both availability and information security management policies and that the process enables the team to manage the confidentiality, availability and integrity of the business data and intellectual property. You will be delivering to the agreed level of performance and ensuring appropriate request mechanisms are available via a service request via the Service Catalogue. Whilst ensuring service delivery function and full process compliance is achieved across all retail groups and third party suppliers, you will also need to log all security incidents and mechanisms are in place for removing or revoking access rights by executing the agreed polices. This role requires excellent service management skills with a high level of understanding of IT operations. Experience of working within a matrix organisation with a significant level of outsourced / off-shore suppliers is essential.

What will this role involve?

You will be ensuring an appropriate standard of access management processes is in place to ensure that access by our staff to our IT services is granted to authorised and verified users only, that access is revoked as appropriate and that non-authorised access is prevented.

The Access Management process is reviewed and audited regularly.

All access requests need to be managed through to completion.

We expect you to support other service management processes and activities whilst making certain that CSI (continual Service Improvement) is in place.

You must be operationally responsibly for access management process whilst acting as an in hours point of escalation for the business.

You must execute additional tasks in order to meet departmental / team project-related, development and change objectives and progress the development of appropriate automation and tool to improve the Access Management process.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a customer focused individual with a significant background in working as an access manager adhering to ITIL/ ITSM standards. The right candidate will be proficient in communicating technical and non-technical information to audiences of various levels in the organisation whilst also having a broad understanding of the Water Industry and related services. You should have a background of working with a team spread over multiple locations with offshore partners in a multi-vendor environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with will an excellent knowledge of access management technologies, process design and management, IT operations management and stakeholder management. You will have ability to influence senior customers and stakeholder, problem solve and deliver under pressure.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based at our offices in Reading. We are offering a salary of between 40,800 and 55,200, dependant on skills and experience.
