What is the purpose of the role?
This role will lead a team of Enterprise Architects across all disciplines. This role will require partnering with both IT and business leadership across all functions to define appropriate solutions for key business opportunities and challenges.
What makes this role unique?
The role will be accountable for developing an overall view of systems that make up the entire Enterprise Architecture landscape and leading the delivery of architectural governance across the organisation. In addition, there will be a need to provide strategic direction to the IT organisation and all stakeholders on best practices and opportunities to drive positive outcomes though the use of technology that support the company’s growth strategies.
What will this role involve?
Technology Strategy & Roadmap:
Build and maintain a versatile & structured Enterprise Architecture landscape.
Partner with and influence senior business leaders to understand where Enterprise Architecture can drive alignment to business objectives and help deliver on company strategy through appropriate use of technology.
Work closely with CTO & wider IT leadership to define strategic requirements for Enterprise Architecture and processes.
Influence key stakeholders to ensure appropriate standards and procedures are developed and enforced.
Lead the successful implementation of Architectural strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables.
By understanding business requirements lead the development of Enterprise Architecture that is scalable and maintained for IT across the business.
Governance & Design Authority:
Inform and influence technical decisions made at governance boards and design authorities. Perform Architecture Impact Assessments for technology within the domain, to help size and shape ideas and initiatives and an early stage.
Assure throughout the project delivery lifecycle that individual solutions are fit for purpose in their application of technology and align with the overall strategy.
Ensure that Principles, Policies, Standards and Patterns are identified, defined, communicated and managed to support the governance of the Enterprise Architecture.
Expert for the evolution of systems and platforms within the domain.
Understand the business, operational and technical context for Enterprise Architecture landscape.
Manage the Architectural relationship with domain suppliers and provide guidance on the technical direction for the domain.
Demonstrate thought leadership on specific topics and promote knowledge sharing across the architecture community.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure the overall integrity of domain roadmaps
Understand industry best practice and engage with strategic partners to align capabilities and influence product roadmaps.
What are we looking for?
We are keen to see candidates you are ideally be educated to degree level, BSc or equivalent. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be fully experienced at dealing with stakeholders and 3rd party delivery partners. You will have significant experience as a Senior / Lead Enterprise Architect and strong knowledge of architecture methodologies, principles and frameworks, ideally TOGAF. Extensive practical IT architecture experience and a deep understanding of data and information as well as emerging Technologies (IoT & connected Devices) are highly desirable. You will need experience of using Microsoft Azure, transforming on premise landscape to Cloud & Saas landscape, MicroServices and component Architecture, have strong SAP experience and have practical experience of defining technology domain roadmaps. Preferred previous experience within the utility industry or large, complex enterprises and working within an agile environment. Ability to explain complex problems in a simple and effective manner is essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is offering a salary of circa £84,000 to £90,000 and will be based at our offices in Reading. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year.
