What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role is to carry out field investigations into complex operational problems with our water network, identifying solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. This is within a defined geographical area of Darenth and surrounding areas of South East London. You will ensure that a high delivery of customer service and network performance is delivered through the provision of network expertise as well as being the bond between control and the field, responsible for the co-ordination of operational resources for unplanned work and operational events.

This role will also form part of the Infrastructure Alliance (IA) which was created in April 2015 and is a partnership between Thames Water, Kier, Clancy Docwra, Morrison and Murphy which is envisioned to work in more efficient ways, delivering our promises to our customers.
What will this role involve?
As the Field operations specialist, you will split your time between the office and field, responsible for:
Coordinating complex planned and reactive technical activities to ensure maximum effectiveness and minimal customer impact.
Drive resolution of complex mains isolations through the provision of information to network optimisation.
Provide technical support to determine solutions to problems and ensure a robust, stable and efficient network.
Work alongside the field teams and customer management function to determine cause of complex/difficult flow and pressure problems.
Provide information on required maintenance and improvement to the network strategy function, and assist with contingency planning.
Provide coaching and mentoring to Network Engineers for development and succession planning.
You will also be required to work on the out of hour’s rota.
Visit sites and customers in times of escalation or high level complaint to deal with the situation.
What are we looking for?
To be considered for this role, we are looking for someone who has previous field based experience. You will have practical knowledge of working on our water network as well as being confident with Microsoft Excel. This role will require you to be based 50% of the time in the field, and 50% of the time in the office so someone with experience in both areas is essential. You will have a passion and interest in delivering customer excellent and will be the expert in your field. You will have a zero compromise approach to health and safety, and must be persistent in your methods. Additionally, you will be an exceptional communicator at all levels of an organisation and you will be customer centric in your approach. You will also demonstrate a good business / stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving and strong team working and influencing skills.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is offering a salary of up to £40,000 and will based out of our Darenth site, but travel around your geographical region will be required. You must also possess a full UK driving licence.
