What is the purpose of the role?
This is an exciting newly created role at Thames Water where you will be responsible for working closely with the Head of integrated asset management and a variety of senior managers and business areas, to evaluate and understand performance across a range of network activity’s (Leakage, Low Pressure, Supply Interruptions, Water Quality compliance) You and your team will develop a robust performance framework, issuing monthly performance packs to identify business delivery against the water networks’ wider performance plan. Managing a team of 3 performance planners, you will facilitate and collate statistical information on business performance and produce insightful analysis that the business can use to further improve water network performance. You will also be responsible for helping to generate quarterly reports for both internal and external stakeholders and regulators (Ofwat, CCG, CCwater & EA) and support the Head of integrated asset management in reporting performance through to the MD of Wholesale Water.
What makes this role unique?
This is a critical role to our business whereby the information gathered and reported on will notify our regulators on business performance. You will manage a small team to deliver outstanding data analysis and will gain exposure to a range of senior internal and external stakeholders. You will be joining in a pivotal role for the business, communicating results and reporting to key members of the senior leadership team. This is also a great opportunity to become part of the Infrastructure Alliance which was created in April 2015. This partnership between Thames Water, Kier, Clancy Docwra, Morrison and Murphy is a ground-breaking time for the water industry, so an excellent time to join and make a real contribution to the development of this position.
What will this role involve?
Accountable for the delivery of information across your team, you will be responsible for:
Working closely across the business to develop monthly performance packs.
Report back to the senior leadership team on performance progress against the business plan and associated performance commitments for water networks activity.
Liaison with a range of business areas including leakage, water supply, water quality and network maintenance to collate relevant performance information.
Facilitating performance meetings to present on performance activity and trends.
Reporting for external stakeholders, including Ofwat and other industry relevant regulators.
Team management including reviewing personal performance, one to ones and carrying out appraisals.
What are we looking for?
To be considered, you must be a credible team manager with extensive experience converting large data sets into tangible deliverables to senior stakeholders. You will understand the importance of reporting performance in a highly regulated environment and will have gained experience in a similar role. A solid background in data presentation is key and you will be confident explaining performance information to the wider business. A strong influencer with exceptional communication skills is required for this role as is the ability to lead a highly technical and analytical team. You will possess a track record of delivering quality work with good customer focus and/or consulting skills. Additionally, a demonstrative capability with risk-based and analytical decision making is fundamental. If you have previous experience within the Water Industry this would be highly advantageous, however not essential.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in Reading and is offering a salary of up to £69,000. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year.
