What is the purpose of the role?
To collate and analyse data from various sources to better understand and quantify water use from our water supply system, and use this to support the development and delivery of the company’s plans to manage the balance between water supply and demand. A key part of this will be the analyse of data relating to customer usage and water system leakage, and the use of this information to help the company understand and manage current performance, as well as helping to shape and influence its longer term plans.
What makes this role unique?
This role will allow the successful person to join a highly motivated and well established team within Thames Water working in the essential area of analysing and reporting customer water usage, leakage and security of supply. As leakage targets are becoming more challenging, so the company needs to better understand where and how water is being used, which in turn will allow more accurately understand leakage. Thames is currently installing large numbers of smart meters that provide lots more data on property use, but with 2 million properties still unmeasured, advanced techniques and other data sources are needed to provide the insight needed to determine water use for these properties. In this role you will work with a wide variety of data and people from many parts of the business including developer services, water networks, metering (wholesale and retail), customer services, billing, strategic planning and regulatory reporting to capture, analysis and report consumption and water use.
What will this role involve?
You will be responsible in ensuring the integrity and robustness of supply and demand data, including that used in water use analysis and leakage reporting, taking ownership for key areas of analysis within the team, but also provide cover for other areas of analysis.
You will need to be able to liaise with data providers across the business and proactively manage the collation and production of data reports for Thames Water senior management, its auditors and external regulators including the Environment Agency and OFWAT.
You will be involved in the development and assessment of options (costs and benefits) to be used in the management of security of water supply, demand and leakage.
You will also be involved in the monitoring of delivery plans, to ensure targets are achieved efficiently.
What are we looking for?
The ideal person for this role must have an excellent ability to analyse data, with a high level of attention to detail, preferably with previous relevant experience, educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and/or have proven knowledge of the business area. You will have advanced knowledge of Excel, whilst knowledge of CIS, SAP, GIS and Business Objects is an advantage. You will have good communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

This role is based out of Clearwater Court in central Reading, and is offering a salary up to £40,250 depending on skills and experience.
