What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role will be to provide excellent customer service to our customers by undertaking operational tasks, resolving customer issues and carrying out network valve activities with the least disruption to supplies. Network service technicians are also required to support capital delivery and operations project work, either on a full or part time basis and to support ongoing leakage delivery activities.
What makes this role unique?
This is a varied role where you will be meeting different people and organisations on a daily basis. This will entail dealing with a variety of issues from the small scale to the complex. This role is interesting as you will be getting involved with a varied range of projects and departments. You will be required to carry out various network operations in the field in order to progress jobs to completion in an efficient manner – giving the best service to all stakeholders involved – contractors and customers alike.
What will this role involve?
Operation of the mains network, including controlling burst mains, ensuring isolation of mains to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs and maintenance.
Personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries & complaints, resolving issues.
Ensure water quality compliance during repairs.
Act as local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks and other health and safety issues.
Responsible for investigating the clean water network to resolve poor asset performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and loss of supply.
Working in compliance with our procedures including AM standards, health & safety and streetworks legislation.
What are we looking for?
Are you solutions focused with the ability to think of your feet? Do you have a passion for delivering the best customer service? Our customers are at the heart of everything we do so previous customer service experience within a constantly changing environment is essential. We are looking for someone that has experience of working within an operational/network role with strong working knowledge of water industry procedures; this will include safety, health and wellbeing and street works. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of domestic plumbing, water mains and leakage detection. Alongside this, a new road and street works certificate and water industry qualifications in operating water networks or an equivalent qualification is preferential. As the role involves driving to multiple sites, you must be a confident driver, as well as holding a full, UK driving licence.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at Ashford Common water treatment works in Middlesex. We are offering a salary of up to £22,440, dependant on skills and experience. You will also receive an additional standby shift enhancement.
