As Assistant Company Secretary you will support the Company Secretary in ensuring the delivery of a professional, effective, high quality company secretarial service to support the activities of our Boards, Shareholders and Executive Team. Your responsibilities include planning, organising and recording Board, Committee and Shareholder Meetings; being responsible for the governance, decisions and actions.

What will this role involve?
Ensure the delivery of an efficient company secretarial service to the Executive Committee, Thames Water and Kemble Boards and our investors in accordance with the constitutional documents.
Introduce effective processes and procedures, proposals for innovation, efficiency & improvement and implement proposals once approved.
Assist with developing the secretarial team through leadership, performance management and motivation consistent with our vision & values. Provide day-to-day supervision of the Legal & Secretariat Assistant.
Ensure awareness of emerging issues in company law, corporate governance and compliance and advise management and the business of these developments.
Act as the first point of contact for Finance and HR in regards to Annual Report and Financial Statements, including provision of information for Remuneration Report and take responsibility for the initial drafting of the corporate governance report.
Take responsibility for the provision of Regulatory Accounting Disclosures and the provision of half and full year information to the Regulatory team.
What are we looking for?
Are you a driven and ICSA fully qualified Company Secretary? Do you possess a decisive but diplomatic approach; in order to guide and influence senior individuals at the highest levels? Your previous company secretarial experience will be in a large, complex organisation giving you great foundations and transferrable skills to be successful and effective in this role. We are seeking a highly organised, proactive individual with similar experience within a listed or regulated company environment, and working with subsidiary companies. You will be able to demonstrate experience of establishing strong and lasting relationships, both internally and externally. You will be able to demonstrate great planning and prioritisation skills and the ability to respond calmly to the changing needs and requirements of the business. You will be experienced in, and enjoy, minute-taking up to and including Board and Audit Committee level, and experience of being involved in the Annual Report preparations, including provision of information for Remuneration Report, and also take responsibility for the initial drafting of the corporate governance report. This role will support a business that has a number of significant changes taking place one of which will be Price Review 2019 (PR19).
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in central Reading, minutes from Reading train station. We are offering a salary between £60,000 and £65,000, depending on skills and experience. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year.
