What is the purpose of the role?

To be the owner of the network responsible for driving water network performance from DI meters to the customers boundary. Supported by an network optimisation analyst you will also work closely with the leakage optimisation engineer to deliver results. You will be responsible for the delivery of regulatory and internal targets for your area, ensuring adequate levels of service are maintained to customers and asset availability is maintained and improved to ensure it is fit for purpose. This will also oversee any investigation and ensure adequate contingencies are in place within areas. Utilising your network expertise you will act as a focal point for the field investigation (directing and receiving feedback from the field operations specialists) of more complex operational problems and identification of the need for appropriate maintenance and improvement work to ensure the network performs efficiently and effectively. This is a key role in driving the resolution of unplanned emergency events and will be required to provide out of hours cover.

As Thames water is currently undergoing an extensive change program this will give all team members the chance to establish niche opportunities driving continuous improvement across the business.

What will this role involve?

Developing tactical solutions, contingency plans to optimise the water network (both principle and transfer).

Taking ownership for delivering DMA status target within areas of responsibility.

Working closely with the performance and reporting Function to maintain targets for areas and monitor current position against targets.

Identifying issues and risks and potential solutions through liaison with delivery teams if required.

Leading the resolution of pressure issues which have been identified through internal measurements and through customer contacts, ensure feedback is provided to reporting team in a timely fashion.

Taking ownership for delivering complete zonal and district meter availability for area.

Completing weekly status reports detailing availability for area and explanation of variances against target.

Measuring and improving DMA optimisation and performance and delivery of complete DMA availability /integrity for area.

Identifying and managing risk on the area in order to develop contingencies and mitigations while ensuring compliance with company PTW/Risk Assessment process.

Providing input into scoping of Capital Delivery projects.

Development of contingency plans and input of Network Access Procedures in line with Current Asset Management Procedures.

Identifying potential capital improvement projects.

Working closely with the leakage optimisation and network planning teams to ensure consistency in approach from planning to delivery of the network strategy.

Driving continuous improvement across the business by identifying opportunities to improve existing processes.

What are we looking for?

An ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field. We seek an expert in water networks who has strong technical capabilities in order to make an impact within the team and develop strategies and processes. You must demonstrate excellent analytical skills and good working knowledge of Excel to think laterally and enhance the function. To be successful in the post strong communication skills are needed and confidence when presenting recommendations. As an expert in the area, you are required to have a proven understanding of the regulatory and legislation aspects of the water industry.

This role will be based at Deephams Stw, offering a salary up to 35,000.
