What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role will be to work within the wastewater operational excellence team, who are responsible for delivering and driving the wastewater vision to optimise performance across above ground sites. You will lead, design and manage a performance management framework that clearly represents progress against waste treatment strategic goals, ensuring the data is of high quality and granularity. You will be accountable for identifying and reporting on key indicators of performance and opportunity and using those findings to put forth actionable recommendations to senior leadership. You will be expected to deliver ad-hoc data-led projects; specifically to lead on the delivery of an online performance management dashboard by working together with internal stakeholders and representatives from IS to develop a cloud-based business intelligence solution. You will assist delivery of the waste treatment vision through the provision of enhanced analysis and project management capabilities, working across a number of projects as required. You will lead a small team and be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting at all levels of the business, as well as providing value-add analysis to inform and influence operational decisions.

What will this role involve?
Improving data quality and collection, identifying data quality gaps and lead programmes to remedy
Leading a team focussing on analysing and reporting weekly on power generation from waste, a significant source of revenue for the business, as well as elimination of waste performance reporting (tracking performance against ideal or ‘design’).
Conduct modelling, interpretation and forecasting of company financial and operational data Work closely with stakeholders across the business (including Finance, Strategy and Operations) in order to add richness and depth to existing reporting.
Develop data analysis/modelling methodologies for projects.
Deliver analysis/specific data-based projects as specified by manager/wider Operational Excellence team.
Develop efficiencies in reporting methodologies by reducing the amount of time and effort needed to extract meaningful data Liaising with other analysts to develop standard processes for use across the business.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will be someone who can balance operational with strategic, articulate specific needs, collaborate across the business, has superior analytical skills, can work under pressure, and comfortable presenting to senior leadership. As the data and analytics lead you will need to be a tenacious, self-starter who is confident manipulating data. You will need to be commercial in order to understand trends in data and the significance to the business. Project management experience is desirable ideally, with knowledge of PRINCE2. As you will be working across the business and with various stakeholders, it is essential that you are confident in communicating professionally both verbally and in writing, and you are capable of influencing senior management. Advanced IT and Microsoft Office skills are required – particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. PowerBI and database understanding (i.e. Microsoft Access) would be preferred.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in Clearwater Court, Reading. We are offering a salary of between £36,000.00 – £42,000.00 depending on skills and experience.
