What is the purpose of the role?
This role leads the integrated planning, capacity planning and customer & workforce insight teams within operational planning. As a centre of expertise, this department supports the operations function to meet customer expectations and regulatory targets, through delivering optimised, insight-led workload demand and capacity plans, both long and near term. You will recommend the most effective use of resources, directing workload demand modelling and forecasting. Additionally, providing workforce and customer performance insight to support change initiatives and decision making.
What makes this role unique?
As the leader of a newly created department, you will develop and continually improve capability, systems and processes to optimise workload planning, capacity planning, forecasting, modelling, data and insight. You will collaborate with customer experience colleagues to align operational and customer capacity plans, and ensure demand information and insight are shared to improve overall service delivery to our customers. You will form strong relationships with direct reports of the Chief Operating Officer and other senior managers to understand demand drivers. They will ensure capacity plans are continuously revised to deliver against required operational outcomes. The role is a leading contributor to the monthly, quarterly and annual budget cycles.
What will this role involve?
Define and recommend workload demand and capacity plan, and recommend monthly/ quarterly revisions to ops capacity plans.
Define, recommend and maintain planning and scheduling algorithms.
Direct the definition of effective and well maintained tools for work prioritisation.
Direct the prioritisation and packaging of operational ‘risks’ for delivery via Operational Projects.
Collaborate with colleagues in Customer Experience to recommend design of usage journeys.
Inputs on relevant elements of design & implications of KPIs and service standards.
Manage the necessary resources to deliver the business unit’s outcomes.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be honours degree qualified and, preferably, a PRINCE2 practitioner. To be successful in this role you will need proven experience of building capacity plans/ budget planning/ strategic planning. Strong stakeholder engagement and management capability is a key part of this role, with the ability to build credibility with and effectively influence senior leaders. Experience of implementing and improving forecasting, scheduling, and planning processes and systems throughout the planning lifecycle is essential. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, a strategic thinker and someone that can make decisions and judgments. You ideally need to be an analytical thinker and problem solver with change and risk management experience.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based in Reading and is offering a salary of between £64,000 and £80,000 depending on experience and qualifications. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year. Interviews will be booked for the week commencing 10th September.
