What is the purpose of the role?

The purpose of this role will be to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner.

What makes this role unique?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the business at the beginning of its transition alongside a strong team in the Thames Valley. This role will primarily be situated within the Berkshire / Reading area, but may be required to cover other areas within the Thames Valley catchment. Your daily tasks will be essential for ensuring that our Sewage Pumping Stations are operating as desired and that information is fed back to the internal system so that sites can be monitored remotely. Accordingly, you will be stepping into a role of great responsibility and you will be expected to embrace this. Your working environment will be faced-paced and varied with plenty of opportunities for training and development in areas that you find interesting.

What will this role involve?

Carrying out electrical installation work at a variety of industrial / construction locations involving a number of different processes.

Inspecting and testing work of installations to check compliance with current Standards and Regulations.

Carrying out maintenance and fault finding complying with current standards and regulations.

Providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up to date technical knowledge, and provide training support for technical trainees.

Complying with the Health and Safety at work regulations and Thames Water’s health and safety guidelines.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will be a qualified electrician having completed an indentured apprenticeship or BTEC HNC in an electrical subject, or equivalent. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry. Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential and as the post will work across a number of sites in the region. Due to the nature of the role, you will be able to carry out over time work in which you will receive an additional payment for. The work will require physical fitness; so you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.

Thames Water information and salary details

This is a field based role but base will be Reading Sewage Treatment Works. We are offering a salary of up to 34,500, depending on experience and qualifications. As part of this role, there are expected earnings of up to 10,000 based on 1 in 6 standby rota and over-time.
