What is the purpose of the role?
The test manager leads the testing team in the test activities for the SAP Competency Centre. Systems in scope include SAP ISU, SAP C4C, SAP BI/BW and many integrated legacy systems. Testing activities will include support of System Integration Testing, System Performance Testing, Operational Acceptance Testing and Penetration Testing etc. Testing delivery will take in to account changes to existing system applications and new system implementations. The role leads on the definition of Thames Waters testing strategy, sets up and maintains a first-class testing capability. The role ensures that any planned changes to Thames Waters business applications are effectively tested against agreed functional and non-functional requirements, prior to deployment in to production. In addition to this, the role has responsibility for ensuring the effective scheduling, use and management of test environments including SIT, Penetration testing, UAT and pre-production environment availability to enable quality testing and production releases to be carried out.

What will this role involve?
The test managers responsibilities are:
Assists/leads in the development and execution of system test strategies, plans and reporting ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with external and internal customers.
Ensure that systems are tested to agreed standards for functional, non-functional service quality and systems management requirements.
Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to.
Aligns test plans with overall change and delivery plans and ensure efficient and effective utilisatisation of people and technical environments.
Co-ordinates test activity, within a programme or project throughout the life of the project and assist in the delivery and integrity of projects, ensuring that common functional or non-functional requirements are addressed in line with the requirements traceability matrix.
Advises on appropriate quality standards and quality control processes, ensuring that quality control activities (including testing) are carried out satisfactorily.
Coordinate Live Support defect retesting within IT and across business work streams
Promotes the testing discipline within the system development communities Liaise with the Release & Environments Manager on deployments and environment refreshes.
Execute additional tasks in order to meet departmental / team project-related, development and change objectives.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a degree (preferably in Computer Science or a related subject) is required. All applicants must have a significant amount of experience in SAP ISU, SAP C4C and legacy systems solution architecture, whilst also having a deep knowledge of service oriented architectures & internet technologies (e.g. j2ee, .NET) Essential technical Skills we are looking for are, test strategies, stakeholder analysis, attention to detail, decision making and judgement, test innovation, test leadership test planning and organising and strategic thinking.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is based at our offices in Swindon. We are offering a salary of between £41,600 and £62,400, dependant on skills and experience, as well as a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme.
