What is the purpose of the role?

The Lead Business Analyst reports to the Head of IT for a specified business area. They are an expert in their field and manage a team of Analysts to provide support for the business. Lead BA’s have significant influence on spend of 20m+ per annum in an exciting role with great exposure to the business. This role applies to the Retail business unit and as such you will work in a predominantly SAP, CRM, billing environment, and will be happy to work in Swindon.

What will this role involve?

Leadership and people management – drives a culture of high performance within the business analyst community, setting, monitoring and reviewing objectives aligned to department goals, determining the appropriate definition and allocation of tasks to business analysis staff in conjunction with the PMO office and developing employees to enhance overall capability.

Business analysis activity within the business unit – provides advice to enable decisions to be made that have a measurable impact on the profitability or effectiveness of Thames Water.

Requirements – works with the business unit to identify and prioritise high-level requirements, conducting feasibility studies, producing both high-level and detailed business models, overseeing development and implementing solutions, taking into account as necessary any safety related implications of systems considered.

Budget – manages financials within department constraints, identifying and implementing efficiency, cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

Policy and strategy – ensures IT provision meets the strategic objectives of the business unit.

Taking an active part in IT policy making and in software, hardware and services procurement.

What are we looking for?

Do you have a good amount of experience in business analysis projects covering process definition and process analysis requirements? Your previous projects would be involved in IT changes within a utilities company. We are keen to speak with candidates who are credible experts with professional accreditation through Chartered IT Professional (CITP) / BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT, with an International Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent experience. You will have significant and exceptionally strong experience as a business analyst including process definition, business analysis techniques and information capture techniques. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of exceptional stakeholder and customer relationship management are highly desirable. Demonstrable experience within a complex IT environment is essential.

Thames Water information and salary details

This role is based at Walnut Court, Swindon. We are offering a salary of between 41,600 to 62,400 depending on skills and experience. On top of our competitive salary package, you will also receive a competitive bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and an industry leading pension scheme. We also offer 2 paid volunteering days per year.
