About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and driven Financial Reporting Manager to lead the delivery of our statutory and regulatory reporting, on behalf of the Thames Water Group. It is a demanding and varied role with significant exposure to the Senior Management and Executive team.  The role will work closely with the business to ensure robust and consistent financial reporting, as well as advising on technical accounting and regulatory matters.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managing the delivery of our yearend financial statements for c.18 group companies including our main trading entity to a FTSE 100 standard.
  • Managing the delivery of our interim financial statement.
  • Managing the delivery of our Annual Performance Report (regulatory reporting).
  • Production of materials for Board meetings.
  • Providing technical advice to the business (IFRS and Regulatory Accounting Guidelines).
  • Managing the reporting, forecasting, budgeting and business partnering for our commercial opportunities and property services business units (over £100m of cost).
  • Managing the reporting, forecasting and budgeting process for entities outside of the core business.
  • Managing the process for responding to Ofwat financial consultations and queries.
  • Managing delivery of training to the business.
  • Leading relationship with the external auditors.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Managing a variety of projects including liquidations, new company set up, new accounting standards / reporting requirements, control environment reviews, system implementations, additional reporting requirements and change initiatives.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previously held manager positions (either within a company / Big4 / large professional services firm) where you were responsible for delivery or audit of financial statements for medium – large sized companies.
  • Previous team management experience – demonstrating role model qualities with the ability to lead and manage a high performing team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with experience of working with Senior Management and Executive teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Experience of working in / with utility, infrastructure or telecoms and working in/with regulatory obligations preferable.
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or equivalent),with a high level of technical expertise in IFRS

This is full-time role based at Clearwater Court (currently due to Government restrictions will be working at home) and will be responsible for managing five direct reports, including one finance graduate and four qualified accountants. The role reports to the Head of Financial Reporting, Systems & Controls.
