Who are we?
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km’s of pipes, to keep taps flowing and toilets flushing. We are an essential service and have operated throughout the Covid19 pandemic. At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.

What you’ll be doing
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our established third party cost recovery team. As a Claims Specialist you will be responsible for recovering money owed to us by external parties who have damaged our assets. You will be the main point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external loss adjusters and will administer damage claims from first notification all the way through to ensuring that the payment is made in a timely manner. This will involve collating all available information in the form of statements, photographic evidence, timesheets, payment applications and any other evidence required to support the claim. Through owning the claims process from end to end this provides the opportunity to engage with Operation’s technical teams, quantity surveyors and our legal department and if interested, attending sites to review the damage first hand. This team forms part of the larger Operational Projects and Logistics team and provides an opportunity to get involved in improving efficiency and recovering money for Thames Water. The success of this role will impact on multiple cost centres/business functions. Your key duties will include:

  • Recovering monies spent on repairing damage to Thames Water’s assets
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders across the business and external third parties
  • Investigating the history of the incident and costs incurred to produce a robust case
  • Producing thorough documentation to support claims
  • Producing and issuing legal letters using agreed templates
  • Promptly responding to queries from third parties
  • Liaising with the legal team when advice is required

We’re looking for you to

  • Have previous experience in an administrative position
  • Be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Be self-motivated and highly organised with an inquisitive and tenacious nature
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have the ability to build rapport at ease and confidently communicate at all levels
  • Have good working knowledge of MS Office and good numeracy skills

What’s in it for you?
Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with length of service and a wider benefits scheme.

We’re proud of the positive ways of working we have adopted during the pandemic. We want to create a more flexible and dynamic environment so all our colleagues can thrive. For our office-based roles we’re moving to a hybrid approach where we’ll provide options around working from our offices, our operational sites and home dependent on role/team/individual. This will be discussed during the assessment process.

Thames Water is a unique, rewarding and diverse place to work. If you join our team, you’ll enjoy fast-tracked career opportunities, flexible working arrangements and unparalleled benefits.
