The PR24 Strategy & Planning Manager will lead the strategic and narrative alignment and integration of our key regulatory submissions with the 2050 vision, our corporate strategy and transformation priorities, the CSR and ongoing business area strategies.

What makes the role unique?

An exciting opportunity where you will lead focussed project work to bring strategic clarity to our submission, and support the business areas in communicating our plan effectively. You will become subject matter expert in regulatory policy issues that affect the Retail and markets area of Thames Water. As a member of the wider Strategy and External Affairs team you will be expected to develop and maintain proactive, transparent and positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and provide cross functional leadership.

What you will be doing?

  • Proactively seek to understand what our regulators and other stakeholders are trying to achieve and identify how this applies to our AMP8
  • Translate a complex strategy development landscape into a narrative framework for the PR24 submission, aligned to the transformation plan but bridging to Ofwat final methodology expectations.
  •  Lead focussed project work to integrate disparate project/programme elements which meets Ofwat’s expectations around line of sight.
  • Shape materials for key investor/stakeholder engagements on PR24, working with business leads as required
  • Become a subject lead on regulation policy that interacts with our Retail area, building relationships that influence the regulatory landscape such that Thames Water are in a strong leadership position to deliver our customer’s priorities and have a clear line of sight from customer wants to our plans
  •  Facilitate and drive delivery of cross functional strategic initiatives such as understanding our investment drivers, delivery of Internal Business Plan considerations and ensuring we prioritise customer spend effectively
  • Work with the functional areas to deliver high quality, impactful and on time formal and informal regulatory submissions (functionally focussed and business wide), taking ownership and leadership of regulatory policy submissions.

What you will bring to the role?

  • Previous experience in utility regulation, obtained in the water industry or a similar asset management industry, including an understanding of the delivery of business plan and price review process within a regulated industry
  •  Highly effective written communication skills, in particular around the creation of strategy and business planning documentation and materials to support effective engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
  •  High levels of influencing and collaborative skills in working with a wide variety of personnel from different backgrounds and with diverse roles within the business, including at senior levels.
  •  Strong project management skills, and experience in operating a system of project controls, in a project management environment.

This may be by supporting our customers on the frontline as an Ambassador or being part of the team managing the incident as a Control Tower Lead.
