This is a fantastic career opportunity for a Construction Project Manager who wants to join a highly collaborative and supportive team in our Capital Maintenance Projects and deliver modern and innovative solutions to our operational sites.

We are looking to recruit someone with a project delivery background within the construction, refurbishment or facilities industries.

Base locations can be flexible across the north-east of London and surrounding areas. These are mainly site-based roles, with travel across our operational areas.

Our huge range of sites includes Listed buildings and those of front-line operational importance.

There is significant investment across our Operations sites, so you will be in a position to make a genuine difference by protecting our operational facilities thereby making life easier for our operations colleagues and delivering value for money for our customers.

What you’ll be doing as a Construction Project Manager

Oversee and lead the ‘start to completion handover’ delivery of a portfolio of structural projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £ 2 million. These will focus on Thames Water buildings and the delivery of facilities for staff within those buildings.

To assist you with this you will use detailed and organised administration records to deliver performance in key areas of health and safety, environment, and quality.

Your main areas of focus will be:

  • Fully scope projects independently, ensuring compliance with CDM, and liaising with our internal operations stakeholders.
  • Invite, review, award and oversee tenders from our Contractors Framework.
  • Oversee legal compliance for all projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and by internal guidelines.
  • Relationship building with internal and external stakeholders covering project plans, risk assessments and timelines.
  • This will include chairing progress meetings and monitoring work-in-progress.
  • External contractors and their supply chain are complete full site inductions.
  • Liaise regularly with the Controller of Premises and manage any issues with the Contractors performance, resources and programme or site issues.
  • Financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Understanding, following and continual improvement of company governance.

What you should bring to the role 

We welcome applications from a variety of project delivery and management backgrounds such as construction, refurbishment, or facilities industries, or if you are due to leave or have left the Military with project delivery experience in these disciplines.

  • Have significant relevant construction or facilities management experience.
  • Have good experience scoping construction projects, from conception to procurement of Contractors.
  • Experience managing contractors and auditing their performance whilst motivating all to achieve high standards of compliance.
  • Sound project management, communication and financial management skills as well as having sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations.
  • Possess strong organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to successfully oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Have the ability to develop friendly and professional customer-focused relationships.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have your transport.
  • Ideally hold at least BTEC/HND or NVQ level 4 in construction management.
