We seek a high-performing Principal Engineer to lead the technical delivery of a groundbreaking project in our second-largest business-critical 100 million pounds investment project at a wastewater treatment facility. This project is essential for maintaining a thriving network while fostering development and expansion.
What you’ll be doing as a Principal Engineer
- Plan and guide the design activities necessary to deliver the solution safely. Manage and monitor these activities to meet or exceed the project milestones and allocated budgets.
- Responsible for the Technical Assurance of detailed designs by contractors, design change reviews and Asset Standard waiver applications during construction.
- Provide the Project Teams with the support they need during the commissioning and handover of assets.
- We undertake Health and Safety audits of construction sites to provide visible leadership and, therefore, improve our Health, Safety, and Well-Being performance.
- Competent in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation, and control. The ability to de-risk and add value is crucial for this position.
Hybrid—Clearwater Court or Slough Sewage Treatment Works: The business requires you to work on-site or in the office three days a week.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
A driver's licence and car access would benefit this role, which comes with a £5,800 car allowance.
What you should bring to the role
- Demonstrable track record of delivering complex projects in the built environment, infrastructure or utility industry.
- An engineering or other relevant degree, preferably Chartered, or qualification within a business or project management arena.
- Knowledgeable in managing contract specification preparation, tendering, and tender evaluation processes with experience in negotiation.
- You will have a background in managing successful, relevant activities, such as capital projects. You will be experienced in delivering quality work with an excellent customer focus.
- Demonstrating your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making and using your excellent verbal and written skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- You will have knowledge and experience in delivering major engineering infrastructure projects valued at up to and above £100m in an infrastructure regulatory environment.
- Process design engineering capability and knowledge, including advanced wastewater treatment.

- Competitive salary from £52,000 to £75,000 per annum.
