We are currently recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technician to Join our Water Production team to work out of our Hampton Water Treatment Works.

As the successful candidate, you will be working in a multi-discipline teams and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician

  • Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
  • Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.

Base Location: Hampton WTW - TW12 2ES.

Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30am – 3:36pm.

PPE and all Tools are also provided.

What you should bring to the role

  • To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification.
  • Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector.
  • Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry.
  • 18TH Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement but must be willing to obtain during probation.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles.
  • Be able will to work in restricted areas.
  • A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided.

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.

  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
