You really will be working on the front line and be the face of Thames Water to our customers.

Each year, we conduct over 500,000 water tests from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer properties to safeguard the quality of drinking water. Be part of this essential mission!

What you’ll be doing as a Customer Sampling Technician

  • Collect water samples from reservoirs and customer properties, ensuring accurate records and industry-standard maintenance of equipment.
  • Travel extensively between sites and customer locations, working as part of a dedicated and busy team across a large geographical area.
  • Participate in a standby roster, which includes one working weekend every five weeks.
  • Investigate water supply issues and customer complaints where required.
  • Represent Thames Water professionally and confidently when interacting with residential and commercial customers.

Base Location: Reading, Water Treatment Works - Fobney RG2 0SF.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Standby Rota: 7:30 AM to 5 PM on a rotational basis.

What you should bring to the role

  • A full UK manual driving license (clean) and the confidence to visit both residential and commercial properties unannounced.
  • Strong journey planning skills with good geographical knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high standards.
  • Good computer literacy to keep accurate records.
  • A curiosity to learn about the water industry if you’re new to it.
  • Customer service experience is a plus.
