We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Process Controller to join us permanently.

This is an exciting role where you will be working as part of the Effluent Stream team, overseeing the Sewage Treatment Process, playing a key part in the site’s day-to-day operations and a hugely crucial part in keeping the River Thames clean and contributing towards green power generation.

 

  • Base location: Beckton - IG110AD
  • Working pattern: 38 Hours per week (Mon-Fri)
  • Full UK driving license is required.

 

What you’ll be doing as a Specialist Process Controller:

  • To make sure the health, safety and well-being of employees and other affected persons is a top priority.
  • Visual inspection of key areas and in-line monitor checking/calibrating.
  • Monitoring, interpretation, collating and reporting of analysis data to ensure the correct process operation, and to meet statutory and regulatory Thames Water compliance requirements.
  • Operation of plant and equipment, ensuring continuous operation of the STW and associated plants and processes.
  • Interact with our internal and external stakeholders, peers & colleagues in a professional, committed, respectful, efficient, and polite manner.
  • Conducting site inductions and taking ownership of the site perimetry system.
  • Undertake safety, security, and housekeeping checks.
  • Fault finding, reviewing trends and data gathering from SCADA.
  • Chemical stock management.
  • Assist the management team with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Being willing to provide cover for the process controller on shift at short notice.
  • Attend management meetings to review plant and process requirements.

 

What you should bring to the role

  • Previous experience of working within the sewage treatment process or in other process-orientated roles is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the process industry plants, such as pumps, dewatering plants and high voltage blowers, is highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of regulatory consents, perimetry and safe isolation would be advantageous.
  • Previous SCADA experience and/or a background in a mechanical/electrical/chemical discipline is desirable.
  • Be competent using IT systems, including Microsoft (PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Skilled in data interpretation and report generation.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly interact with our stakeholders.
