We are looking for a Production Manager to join Thames Water permanently.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Southern Water Production area to ensure its robust and safe operation 24/7 and also influence the future by identifying risk and investment needs and working with internal teams to deliver solutions within the right timescales.

Our overarching plan is to provide our customers with a continuous supply of safe, clean and palatable drinking water by focusing on our five key priorities – our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency.

This is a diverse and fast-paced role where no two days will be the same. It provides a fantastic opportunity to think differently about how we ensure the reliability and resilience of our assets, whilst developing our people and driving a sustainable operating model. Key to the role is collaboration and stakeholder engagement, both within and outside of Water Production.

  • Base location: Orpington - BR6 0SQ, however, you will cover the wider area and drive between several different sites, therefore, you will need a full clean UK driving licence.
  • Working pattern: Hybrid – 36 Hours per week (Mon-Fri), plus the inclusion onto a standby rota once fully trained, for which you will receive additional payment.

What you’ll be doing as a Production Manager:

  • Ensuring both TW employees and contractors work in a safe and secure environment and go home safe and well at the end of each working day.
  • Ensure Water Production sites achieve their planned availability and reliability in terms of quality and quantity at the agreed cost.
  • Supporting the team and individuals to deliver exceptional service both to internal and external customers, working towards an improved SIM score.
  • To ensure budgetary control in accordance with the Financial Control procedures to meet the business plan (OPEX & CAPEX).
  • Supporting individuals in the team to understand what is expected of them to achieve optimal performance in conjunction with the company's PDR process and timeline.
  • Making sure the team feel motivated, valued, and engaged in all aspects of their work.
  • Maintain and contribute to a succession plan as part of the wider Water Production team.

What should you bring to the role?

  • Previous experience in a Water Treatment or a utilities-based environment.
  • H&S qualifications - IOSH or NEBOSH are highly desirable.
  • An understanding of the Water Quality Regulations is desirable.
  • Ability to work safely, meeting the physical demands of the role, as you’ll work in confined spaces, with the successful completion of training.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • A great team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with our internal and external stakeholders.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary up to £57,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (plus bank holidays)
  • Company Car Allowance provided.
  • Great development opportunities to grow People management skills, health and safety skills and Water Production knowledge.
  • Chance to undertake NEBOSH if not already attained.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
