This is an exciting office and field-based role, as a Performance Manager leading a technical team that covers the front-line maintenance activities across two Water Treatment Works in the Southwest area.

You will be managing a team of 8 technicians and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, delivering both planned and reactive activities.

There will also be a requirement to respond to any operational events within the geographical area and deliver excellent customer service.

What you’ll be doing as a Performance Manager

  • You are responsible for the performance management and leadership of your team by company policies, ensuring the competence of individuals through coaching and training to maximise their potential.
  • Health and safety are at the centre of everything we do, and as such, you will be responsible for implementing this with your site and team.
  • You are responsible for identifying, mitigating, resolving and escalating risk across the site and team.
  • You will need to deliver a consistent approach to asset operation and maintenance to deliver a cost-efficient, robust and safe operation 24/7.
  • Understand and articulate changes within the budget at regular performance review sessions. Ensuring the budget is managed effectively about H&S, compliance, people and performance.
  • You have responsibility for delivering a safe service to the customer base in your area, by driving a culture of continuous improvement and best practice within the team.

Base location: South London: Ashford Common (WTW) - TW151RU & Kempton Park (WTW) - TW136XH

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours per week (Monday-Friday)

What you should bring to the role?

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:

  • Have previous experience in leading a high-performing operational team and have excellent people and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrate a good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to clearly interact with your field-based colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills.
  • Take Care of yourself and others, we have a zero-compromise approach to Health and Safety at Thames Water, and it is critical that all of our employees go home safe and well at the end of each day.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation is essential.
  • Have a full, valid UK driving license.

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:

  • Existing knowledge and experience of working within the Wastewater industry is desirable.
  • Previous experience with SAP systems is desirable; user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
