What you’ll be doing as a Commercial Business Analyst
- Extracting, cleansing, and analysing large, complex datasets to generate actionable insights on historical spend, cost drivers, and operational efficiency opportunities.
- Supporting forward planning by using data to inform demand forecasting and future commercial decisions.
- Applying commercial analysis to identify value creation opportunities across the supply chain and broader business operations.
- Developing and enhancing commercial models, pricing tools, and bid templates using both existing frameworks and newly built solutions.
- Delivering detailed financial and commercial analysis comparing final costs against budgets, baselines, and sourcing strategies, clearly evidencing business value delivered.
- Engaging regularly with stakeholders to define analytical scope, gather requirements, and present insights in a clear and impactful way.
- Supporting internal and supplier-facing discussions by confidently explaining data outputs and commercial implications.
- Leveraging technical expertise in Power BI to build dashboards, automate reporting, and improve data-driven decision-making.
- Acting as a champion for analytics tools and systems, supporting the wider business through training and adoption initiatives.
Base location – Hybrid – Clear Water Court, Reading.
36 hours a week.
What you should bring to the role
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A degree in a numerical or analytical discipline such as Finance, Accountancy, Mathematics, Economics, or Business.
- Proven experience in a similar analytical or commercial role, ideally within a complex organisation or supply chain environment.
- Strong understanding of how commercial functions operate, including exposure to procurement, sourcing, cost management, and supply chain dynamics.
- A solid finance background with the ability to interpret financial data and translate it into commercial insight.
- Advanced technical capability in Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and derive meaningful conclusions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior audiences.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Visual Basic (VBA) and macro development.
