We are looking for a Technical Coordinator to join Thames Water

You will be focused on maintaining and improving the Sewage treatment works infrastructure to ensure our assets operate 24/7.

The role will also require you to manage smaller projects and provide support to the team on larger-scale projects.

You will be responsible for designing complex jobs for work at our Sewage treatment works and ensuring any prerequisites are in place to allow work to be completed by the Field Technicians.

Base location: Crossness - Abbey Wood, South East London, SE2 9AQ - Long Reach, Dartford, DA1 5PP

Working pattern: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)

 What you’ll be doing as a Technical Coordinator:

  • Co-ordinate the ordering of parts/equipment and prerequisite permits required to complete jobs
  • Managing contractors effectively and communicating extensively with them to carry out specialist mandatory work
  • Maintaining the OPEX and CAPEX spends
  • Liaising with other team members to understand the plant availability
  • Take responsibility for planned maintenance on site
  • Maintaining SAP activities
  • Proactively review Plant performance and provide improvement recommendations
  • Liaise with the Planning Team by attending all planning meetings
  • Support Managers and sites by providing technical knowledge and understanding of a variety of equipment
  • Maintain inventory of critical spares
  • Take ownership and deliver local capital schemes
  • Assist in Health & Safety briefings and procedures, working proactively with the safety equipment team and statutory inspection
  • Be accountable for finance in terms of monitoring the contractor's spending and reducing the costs of materials
  • Maintenance Team engagement and providing guidance where required

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:

  • Demonstrate good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to clearly interact with your field-based colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through an SAP system, and user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
  • Take care of yourself and others. We have a zero-compromise approach to Health & Safety, and all of our employees must go home safe and well at the end of each day.

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:

  • Have previous experience in technical job design and/or prerequisite management within a utility company.
  •  Previous experience managing third-party contractors, especially in a maintenance environment.
