About the role: 

The process technician role is a varied role which will involve carrying out process testing on effluent and sludge streams, maintaining process assets which will involve cleaning and clearing blockages, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks, front line maintenance, optimising process assets to ensure efficient operation of our assets and problem solve underperforming or failed assets.

This role will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Monitoring and inspecting equipment, following a checklist to carry out planned preventative maintenance,   ensuring equipment / generators / telemetry are operating correctly.
  • Reporting defective assets to ensure maintenance teams can attend promptly to investigate failed assets.
  • Carry out continuous based monitoring, which will involve taking oil samples and recording instrument readings.
  • Reporting safety observations, near misses and mitigating risks on site.
  • Making sure work area is safe before commencing any work by undertaking a SHE 5 risk assessment using your Motion device.
  • Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact on the budget (e.g. tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
  • Liaising with the planning and scheduling team to ensure your work load is managed correctly. All planned / reactive tasks and asset condition is recorded on a PDA and uploaded to our SAP system.
  • Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements
  • This part-time role is based at Swindon Sewage Treatment Works, although you may be required to cover a geographical area around the Thames Valley.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Do you have similar experience working in an outside, manual role?
  • We are looking for someone who wants to get stuck in and hands on. You must be very self-motivated and be able to work well alone and as a team.
  • You will have good literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Computer data input and enquiry experience is desirable as is knowledge of Waste Water Treatment Processes. Experience diagnosing basic mechanical and instrumentational issues is also desirable.
  • Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required.
