About the role: 

You and your team will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the Slow Sand Filters (SSF) at Coppermills Water Treatment Works to ensure throughput of production, meeting customer demand in line with company health and safety legislation. 

This role will involve 

Routine checks, maintenance and operating mobile plant to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards.

The three key areas are skimming filters, the removal/ relaying of granular activated carbon (GAC) and re-sanding of SSFs.

Use of specialist mobile plant including skimmers, loading shovels, dumpers and excavators.Slow Sand Filter Technicians also operate the Floatex plant (Sand Washer) and GAC separation plants as well as the mobile crane when required.

General site housekeeping, plant checks and maintenance.

An adherence to legal and company health, safety and hygiene regulations are essential.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working around or operating plant is advantageous.
  • Ability and attitude to take pride in the work that they and the team does every day,     whilst always striving for the highest standards.
  • Enthusiastic and physically fit with enthusiasm to learn.
  • Be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers and prepared to take on a range of manual tasks.
  • Team player with good communication skills are essential.

Slow Sand Filters are cleaned in accordance with operational standards, which vary depending on the time of year (summer and winter strategy). This means that the work varies day to day and the majority of the work is outdoors.
