About the role:

The role of the Electrical Technician is to perform a range of assigned front line activities including testing, routine checks, maintenance and problem solving to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. In some cases, this may include planned and preventative maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.

This role will involve, but not be limited to:

  • Completion of mandatory maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair to electrical plant.
  • Accurately reporting faults and recording work and asset information to improve business performance using the handheld device.
  • Highlighting and reporting hazards, near misses and incidents; making the area safe with a minimum of 2 hazards reported each month, escalating any issues to your line manager as soon as possible. Including taking personal responsibility for health and safety of self and colleagues.
  • Making sure the work area and tasks have a risk assessment including a SHE 5 completed for all job activities.
  • Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact on the budget (e.g. tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to new starters and technical trainees as well as existing colleagues.
  • Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements
  • Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 15:36, working 38 hours a week.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering with an upskill qualification in electrical NVQ2/3 is crucial.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a relevant operational environment. You will have basic literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry and working with Toxic Gases. You will be expected to work towards becoming a Senior Authorised Person responsible for maintenance of our high voltage plant. Therefore, experience with transformers, three phase pumps, motors and starters is highly desirable. Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required.
